The Special Contribution Award is presented by the Travel Media Awards organisers and advisory panel for lifetime contribution to the field of travel media. 

This year’s recipient is travel journalist and broadcaster Simon Calder, who’s being honoured for his career as one of the UK’s most respected and influential travel journalists and his remarkable contribution to the industry.

Known as ‘the man who pays his way’ because he doesn’t accept offers of free travel, he’s built a career as one of the most trusted voices in the industry, offering clear, practical advice for travellers everywhere.

On 13 October 2025, we celebrate Simon as well as the winners of 24 other award categories.
